Richard Lane's Hadrian's Wall Challenge
On Saturday 19 June, Richard Lane OBE, President of Diabetes UK is walking 7.5 miles along Hadrian's Wall to raise money for diabetes research.
Richard was one of the first people in the UK to receive islet cell transplants after a long history of diabetes-related complications, comas and severe hypos. The transplants transformed Richard’s life and he has not had any serious complications since his first operation.
“I owe a great deal to research funded by Diabetes UK, and want to continue to see more people benefit from every step forward in research that we can achieve. The Hadrian’s Wall walk will be a real challenge for me, but it will be beautiful, and certainly worth it, especially if I succeed in reaching my target of £7,500 – £1000 for every mile. There are places on the walk if you want to share my challenge
