Bupa Great North Run 2010
The World Health Organization estimate that over 220 million people worldwide including 2.6 million people in the UK have diabetes, a disease affecting blood sugar levels, that's about 3% of the world's population.
Everybody will know someone or live with someone with diabetes.
Personally, my Dad, two Uncle's and an Aunt have diabetes. My wife's cousin had Type 1 diabetes throughout his life and has recently, bravely, undergone a kidney transplant in order to rectify his lifetime of symptoms.
I therefore feel passionately about this cause and the impact it has on people's lives. It is often overlooked and more awareness is urged.
After recent personal injury (and 6 months of physiotherapy), I am still determined to complete the Great North Run on 19th Sept in order to help raise as much money as possible to help those living with diabetes.
Please give generously to help the lives of so many people.
Every penny goes to Diabetes UK.
Thank you
Jim Murray
