UPDATE: All four challenges done and my total now stands at £1,476.82. This includes the £190 of donations you see on the left, from people who have kindly used this site to donate!
I did two long distance cycle rides and two Triathlons, all in aid of Diabetes UK and their search for a cure to Type 1 Diabetes, the disease that my son was diagnosed with in July 2010. I called my challenge
'Four 4 a Cure'Hey it rhymes, that's gotta be good, right?
More details can be found on my blog, where I regularly update on the training and preparation for the challenges, and also blog live from the events themselves.
Curesam websiteIn order, the four challenges were:
1 - The Rother Valley Charity Super Sprint Triathlon on 11th June
2 - The Coast to Coast cycling challenge from Whitehaven to Newcastle (15th-17th July)
3 - The London Triathlon - the Buckingham Palace Sprint course, on 7th August
4 - The London to Paris Cycle challenge from 9th - 11th September
In total, I need to raise £1,950 to compete in these events. I managed to raise £2,300 last year when I took part in the London to Paris Cycle challenge. And the reason for entering four events this year was to up the challenge, so I'd really like to beat that amount too.
Tell your friends - and please ask them to donate too.
Even better, tell your boss. A generous donation from an employer is tax free! And if your company wants to sponsor me, I'll put a PR programme and package together that will enable us to jointly benefit from the good work being done for a very important cause.
